And still we step into the future
Elementary Elements
Composed of shame,
or of forms careless toward the self.
Shame is self-contemptuous.
Yet a frequent presence —
it sours the soul,
scatters dreams,
attempts to lie about safety.
Shame is isolating.
It multiplies emptiness,
it multiplies loneliness,
in genuine disconnection from safety.
Yet the constructed boundaries
do not collapse easily,
demanding the reconstruction of personality,
of the mind and all internal organs.
But memories are able to cling
only to the past,
and still we step into the future
where the former self becomes obsolete.
To survive in order to die,
and then to resurrect —
the paradoxical nature
of the modern human.
Modernism transforms forms.
Modernism transforms approaches.
A single human lifespan is too long
for the modern environment, the modern world.
